Returns and Exchanges

At Klein Scientific, we are committed to providing high-quality scientific equipment and accessories. If you experience an issue with your purchase, we’ll do our best to resolve it quickly and fairly, in line with the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

1. Change of Mind

  • Returns for change of mind are accepted within 14 days of delivery.

  • Items must be:

  • In “as-new” condition, with no damage or exhibiting signs of wear

  • In resalable condition, with all accessories, manuals, and parts included.

  • Customers are responsible for return shipping costs in change-of-mind cases.

  • Exclusions (unless approved before purchase):

    • Special-order items, products not in e-store, customised equipment, or software licences.

    • Consumables such as slides, cover glasses, reagents, filters, or any sterile or perishable products.

    • Reagents such as cell-imaging reagents, clearing reagents or other chemicals or reagents.

2. Faulty, Damaged, or Incorrect Items

  • If your order arrives faulty, damaged, or not as described, please contact us within 30 days of delivery.

  • We may request photos or diagnostic details to help assess the issue.

  • Depending on the case, we will:

  • Arrange repair or replacement, or

  • Issue a refund, in accordance with the ACL.

  • Return shipping costs will be covered by us for faulty, damaged, or incorrect items.

3. Warranty on Microscopes & Equipment

  • Microscopes, imaging systems, and electronic instruments are covered by a [12–24 month] manufacturer’s warranty (depending on product).

  • Warranty covers manufacturing defects and hardware faults under normal use.

  • Warranty does not cover:

  • Consumables (e.g. bulbs, filters, batteries, slides, reagents).

  • Damage due to misuse, improper installation, unauthorised modifications, or normal wear and tear.

4. How to Return an Item

  • Contact us at sales@kleinaustralia.com.au with your order number, description of the issue, and photos if applicable.

  • We will advise whether the item should be returned, repaired, or replaced.

  • Pack the item securely to avoid damage during transit.

  • Refunds will be processed back to the original payment method once the return is received and assessed.

5. Exceptions

  • Consumables: Glassware, cover slips, chamber slides, and other sterile/perishable laboratory supplies cannot be returned unless faulty.

  • Reagents and chemicals cannot be returned unless faulty.

  • Special-order/custom items: Non-stocked or custom products ordered on request cannot be returned unless faulty.

  • Software licences or digital products: Non-returnable once activated or downloaded.

  • Full refund for change-of-mind not valid for products used in PC2/3/4 laboratories, leasing or hire companies, mining laboratories or products used in wet, hazardous or infectious circumstances.
